Calahan Funeral Home

History

Calahan Funeral Home originally started in 1983 as Calahan Funeral Service founded by Edward Calahan. The service was based out of a funeral home in Chicago, IL. Through the suggestion of the manager, Edward Calahan was directed to an old funeral home at 7030 South Halsted.

This is where, in 1986 Edward and Shirley Calahan had their dream as they stood in front of that old building on Halsted. Edward and Shirley Calahan soon updated the building and opened for business as Calahan Funeral Home in 1986.

In 1989 Shirley Calahan Left her career in banking to return to school to become a licensed funeral director. She has since then joined forces with her loving husband to become a dynamic team.

Through faith, 5 star service, and superb quality work, 20 years later Calahan Funeral is standing stronger than ever to continue to serve people. We stand as a privately owned family business that takes pride in serving all communities. Throughout the years our goal has been to provide helpful and caring service to families planning for the death of a loved one. It remains our top priority today.
