Wanda Y Roberts

Wanda Yvette Roberts (affectionately known as Candi) was born July 15, 1953 to Ganell Saxon and Lewis Edwards in the state of Illinois. She passed from life and entered into glorious eternal rest on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, IL in Cook County Illinois. Wanda confessed her hope in Christ as a young adult and was baptized at Smith Chapel Baptist Church, in Mayflower Community - Tatum, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Richardson. At the time of her transition from earth to glory Wanda was a faithful member of Christ Unity Evangelistic Church under the leadership Senior Pastor Bill H. Brown and Executive Pastor Diane Brown. Wanda graduated from Laneville High School in Laneville, Texas and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree at Panola Junior College in Carthage, Texas. She furthered her education at Kennedy King Junior College in Chicago, Illinois. After 37 ½ years, Wanda retired from the United States Postal Service, Main Post Office in Chicago, Illinois where she worked in the CFS Department as a Clerk then moved to the Marketing Department where she retired as a Consumer Affairs Representative. Wanda was a woman of great faith, who never wavered in her conviction to speak the Word of God with boldness to anyone she encountered. She was an amazing woman who was a giver and never hesitated to provide aid and assistance to anyone that needed it. Wanda was a loving mother; a great friend and her impact will be felt for years to come. Those left to cherish precious memories are: son, Danny Andreas Yarbrough, Jr. of the home; siblings: Andre N. (Gladys) Edwards, Willingboro, New Jersey, Gaylinda (Johnny) Phillips, Sumter, South Carolina, Pamela Cunningham and Adrian L. Collins both of Chicago, Illinois; adopted mother, Irene Sammons, Longview, Texas; adopted siblings: Antonio M. Garrett, Arlington, Texas, Anna M. Jones, Alfrederick B. Scott and Arvitta L. Scott all of Longview, Texas; special and dear friends: Velma Timberlake, Easton, Texas, Toni Anderson and Elder Clyde Caldwell both of Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Ganell Saxon and Lewis Edwards, she was predeceased by siblings: brother; Lewis Edwards and sister, Cheryl Collins.
