Danny Lamar Bardwell

Danny Bardwell, affectionately known as “Rio,” was born on September 9, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to Carolyn and Odie P. Bardwell. Raised in Chicago, Danny attended Horace Mann Elementary School and Chicago Vocational High School. He later served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS America, a chapter of his life that remained a lasting source of pride. Danny was a man of many talents. As a child and teenager, he enjoyed working alongside his father at the University Shoe Repair Shop. There, he became highly skilled in leather refinishing and earned the loyalty of many repeat customers. He was also a superb chef and grill master whose meals brought family and friends together. Skilled with his hands and gifted at solving problems, Danny could fix almost anything and was always willing to offer advice or lend a helping hand. He was intelligent, stylish, and known for his unique sense of humor. Danny had an eclectic taste in music and enjoyed researching current events, especially his favorite subject—politics. A hardworking entrepreneur, Danny was the proud owner of Dan B Property Management. For many years, he provided maintenance services for several businesses and managed numerous residential properties. Danny took great pride in his work, and through his knowledge, dependability, and problem-solving skills, he earned the trust and respect of his clients, family, and friends Above all, Danny will be remembered for his love of family, generous spirit, strength, and unforgettable personality. His presence brought joy and laughter to those around him, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Danny peacefully transitioned from this life at the age of 69. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn and Odie P. Bardwell, and his brothers, Kevin and Michael. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Gary Bardwell and Eleanor Bardwell; his nieces, Michelle Bardwell-Hood (Jonathan Hood) and Kim Gill; his nephew, Kevin Bardwell; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Danny is no longer suffering and is now at peace. His love, laughter, wisdom, and unforgettable spirit will continue to live through everyone whose life he touched. Rock on, Danny—free from pain and forever in our hearts. Your life was a blessing, your memory is a treasure, and you will be deeply loved and forever missed.
