Georgia Ann Allen " Honey "

Georgia Allen was born on June 22, 1936, in Macon Mississippi, to Eliza and Claudie Allen (who preceded in her in death). Affectionately, known as “Honey,” Georgia’s family moved to Dolomite, Alabama during her pre-teen years. At age 19, she moved to Chicago where her sisters Millie and Betty would follow within a few years. Georgia later married John Bolton who preceded her in death. That union lasted for over 25 years. Honey was employed by Morgan and Linen for the entirety of her work-life until her retirement in 1994. She received Christ and served as a mother of the church at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend O’Neal until her passing. The audacity of a young girl to move from Alabama to a major city during the height of Jim Crow South. This was the ambition that would frame Honey’s reputation as one of the most visionary and absolute best human beings to walk the face of this earth. Anyone will tell you that she was known to find value in each individual that she encountered. She would greet all people with a smile as bright as the sun while serving as her family’s backbone, voice of reason, and nurturing presence. Honey was a fashion icon and during her younger days and could rival soul train dancers on the dance floor. It was on her shoulders that her nephews Rodney and DeAndre stood as they became the first of their immediate family to become college graduates. Any good that is related to the Allen Family can attributed to Eliza Allen and carried out by Honey. Georgia and her sisters planted seeds of hope in the Chicago branch of their family tree, but it was Honey whose audacity, vision, and nurture attached sustainable respectability to the Allen family name. Georgia was preceded in death by her only daughter, Sandra Jackson, nine siblings, and a host of of nieces like (Jennifer) and too many others to name in the south. Honey leaves to mourn her passing her loving sisters, Millie and Betty-Jean, who were there through everything and remained as close as any family could wish to be; nephews, Rodney, Reginal, DeAndre (Dionne), Stevie (who preceded her in death), and many others around the country, as well as grandnieces and nephews from Chicago, Wisconsin, Kalamazoo, California, and Alabama who will miss her tremendously.
