Jerome Collins

Jerome Collins was born on March 31, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ernest and Geraldine Collins. As the oldest of his siblings, Jerome was a loving son, devoted husband, caring father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend whose life touched many. Jerome accepted Christ at an early age. In 2005, he and his beloved wife, Rosetta, united with Beloved Community Church of God in Christ, where they faithfully worshiped together. On July 17, 2026, Jerome peacefully departed this life at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Collins, and two brothers, Eric Collins and Maurice Collins. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Geraldine Collins, who remains as feisty and spirited as ever. Affectionately known as "Steve," Jerome earned the nickname because of his striking resemblance to the comedian Steve Harvey. His warm personality, sense of humor, and infectious smile brought joy to everyone who knew him. Jerome was raised on the west side of Chicago and graduated from Marshall High School. Although he lived in several states throughout his life, he eventually returned to Chicago to continue his professional career. He served for many years as a Senior Care Manager with the Illinois Department of Corrections before joining the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). In that role, he traveled throughout the United States, educating communities and professionals on substance abuse prevention and treatment. He was also a proud member of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. In 1997, Jerome met the love of his life, Rosetta, whom he lovingly called "Rose." Their love blossomed, and they were married on December 31, 1999, so they could welcome the new millennium together as husband and wife. Their union was blessed with 25 wonderful years of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Jerome leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Rosetta Collins; his two daughters, Latoya (Eric) and Valerie (Johnny); his loving mother, Geraldine Collins; his brother, Ronald Collins; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
