Michael Jay Adams

Michael Jay Adams was born November 16, 1966, to Myrtis Lee (Motten) Adams and Presitley Timothy Adams, Jr., in Chicago, Illinois. He was the third of four sons born to his parents. Michael's parents and his baby brother, Micrin Tyrell Adams, preceded him in death. Michael, affectionately known as “Mike”, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in childhood at Lebanon Baptist Church (Chicago) under the pastoral covering of Rev. John William Clinkscales, Jr. Mike never wavered concerning his faith in Christ or his connection to the church. In recent years he joined and faithfully attended Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (Chicago) where he served in the Men’s Ministry which connected him with a solid core of Christian men who became his co-laborers and brothers in Christ. The love of education was instilled in all of Myrtis’ boys and Mike was not different. He matriculated successfully through Chicago Public Elementary Schools, and Mendel Catholic College Preparatory High School at the insistence of his mother. Upon graduation from Mendel, Mike attended Southern Illinois University (SIU-Carbondale) where he majored in Information Technology and Computer Science. During his time at SIU-Carbondale, Mike was duly initiated as a Distinguished Brother of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Theta Chapter. Mike remained active with his beloved “Que’s” throughout the remainder of his life and was fraternally known near and far as “Tenacious Dog.” Mike loved being an Omega Man. Professionally, Mike pursued a diverse number of work and career paths post college to include sales, FP Mailing Systems, and Pitney Bowes. He was also the Community Outreach Director for The Body Connection Health and Wellness Company. In 2010, Mike met the love of his life and faithful wife until his passing, Dr. Albertina Logan Adams. Mike and Tina met through a mutual friend and the magnetism was instantaneous. The couple enjoyed many great life experiences together with the greatest of these being the birth of their daughter Londyn Paris. Mike never met a stranger, had the gift of gab, and could talk a cat off a fish cart. If you knew him, you knew that he thought he knew everything, even if he didn’t. This distinctive trait made him one of the most charming and charismatic persons one would ever meet. Mike also loved sports, grew up an athlete, played organized sports in high school, and was all things Chicago sports (Bears, Bulls, and Cubs). He knew the players and their histories and loved spirited sports conversations. Mike also loved to fish as a child and a young man and always had a good fishing story for anyone who would listen. Michael Jay Adams peacefully departed this earthly realm and was promoted to heavenly glory on Saturday, September 20, 2025. He was 58 years old. Mike leaves to cherish his memory his Loving Wife, Dr. Albertina “Tina”; Children: Travonne Daniel, Sr., Imani Adams, Londyn Paris Adams, and Brittany Tousson-Taylor (Dyshawn, Sr.); Grandsons: Travonne, Jr., Dyshawn, Jr., Cameron, and Elijah; Granddaughter: Dalaney; Brothers: Bishop Preston T. Adams, III (Greta) and Delrick B. Adams; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, church brothers, fraternity brothers, and childhood friends from 68th and Justine Street (Chicago aka “The Block”).
