Sunrise October 30, 1962 Sunset November 1, 2025 (First page). *First Quarter - The Tip Off* Sidney Reuben Jr., lovingly known as “$am”, was born on October 30, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois to Sidney Reuben Sr. (whom proceeded him in death) and Arletha Green. He was the baby boy of five children, of whom three preceded him in death. Sisters Nannie Mae Wallace, and Ollie Mae White, and brother Floyd Green. His sister Cheree (Todd) McGrone remains as the only living sibling, cherishing the memories they created and the love they shared throughout the years. $am peacefully passed away on November 1st, 2025 in his hometown of Chicago. *Second Quarter - Building the lead* $am was a proud graduate of Paul Roberson High School. After high school, $am continued his education in trade school, where he gained the hands on skills that became his life-long calling. From plumbing and putting up drywall to fixing watches, $am could repair just about anything and he did it with pride and precision. Off the court of work, he enjoyed his downtime laughing and spending time with his friends, watching Westerns like “Gunsmoke”, and “The Rifleman”, and never missing an episode of “The Price is Right”, and “Soul Train”. He was also often found cheering on his favorite teams, and getting down on the dance floor with smooth moves that could light up any room. *Third Quarter - The Home Stretch In 1995, $am married the love of his life Elizabeth McDaniels. From that union, they had two handsome sons, Sidney Reuben lll, and Samuel Maurice Reuben and two step-daughters, Yoverlon Peterson, and Dr. Sheena Marie McDaniels. He loved deeply, laughed often, and left behind a highlight reel of memories that will never fade. $am inspired everyone around him to keep playing the game with heart, no matter the score. In his own words “Keep The Weight On Them”. *Fourth Quarter - The Final Buzzer Though the final buzzer has sounded, $am's game doesn’t end here. His spirit continues in every smile, every laugh, every dance step shared by those who love him. $am leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth McDaniels, sons, Sidney Reuben lll, and Samuel Maurice Reuben, both of Chicago. Daughters, Dr. Sheena Marie McDaniels of Chicago, and Yoverlon Peterson of Griffith, Indiana. Granddaughters, Aubrie Reuben, Ava Reuben, and Kylie Reuben of Chicago, Illinois. Mother, Arletha Green of Chicago, sister, Cheree Jelks-McGrone (Todd) of Chicago, Mattie Harris of LaPlace, Louisiana. Brother, David Reuben of Elgin, Illinois. Mother in-law, Florine McDaniels of Chicago. Sisters in-law, Thelma English of Homewood, Illinois, Cheryl McDaniels of Chicago, and Jeannie (Kevin) Wright of Lithia Springs, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love and miss him dearly.
