Tommy James Perry Sr.

On June 6, 1955, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Tommy James Perry, Sr. affectionately called “Boobie” by his family made his grand entrance into the world. He was born to Bessie Irene Perry and Eugene Watson. From the very beginning, Tommy brought his own spark to life—one that would grow into a personality full of charm, humor, and heart. Raised in Chicago, Tommy began building the foundation of his life and character while attending Kershaw Elementary School and later Carver High School. Those early years helped shape the man many would come to know—someone who valued family, friendships, and the experiences that made life meaningful. After completing high school, Tommy continued his education for a time at Kennedy King College. Not long after, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army—an experience that further strengthened his discipline and character. Tommy was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He began a career with Sherwin Williams, where he worked faithfully for more than 30 years. Through decades of service, he earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike, showing up each day with reliability, determination, and pride in his work. In 1979, Tommy was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Shakita. He was a man who never met a stranger, never missed a chance to laugh, and certainly never missed noticing a beautiful woman. For much of his early life, he enjoyed the adventure of romance and the company of many wonderful ladies. But fate—and a little divine timing—eventually brought him the love of his life, Vera Addision. When he met Vera, everything changed. They were married in 1996, and one son, Tommy Perry, Jr.(TJ), was born to this union. Together, they blended their families into one lively and loving tribe where laughter, chaos, and loyalty were always in abundance. For more than fourteen years, their marriage was filled with devotion, partnership, and a love that grew stronger with each passing year. When God called Vera home, a piece of his heart went with her. Life, however, has a way of surprising even the most seasoned romantic. Later, he met Bonnie, and the two discovered a joyful companionship that proved love doesn’t have an expiration date. Their time together was filled with fun, laughter, mischief, and the shared understanding that life is meant to be enjoyed. Though their chapter together was shorter than anyone wished, it was rich with happiness until God called Bonnie home as well. Through it all, Tommy remained a man who loved deeply, laughed loudly, and lived fully. He believed family was meant to be big, loud, and gathered around the same table. His life was proof that love is a gift from God—enduring through every season and carrying us through both joy and loss. Tommy departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2026 @ 5:04 a.m. leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family that will continue for generations. He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy his beloved children: Shakita Jaggernauth wife (Winnide), TJ (Alana), Tamika Smith (Alvin), Devin Ingram, and Perrish Ingram, Sr. (Angel). He was also a loving father figure to his extended children: Julius (aka Shawn) Moffett, Veronica (aka Money) Dedrow, Valerie Dedrow, Valerie Liggins, and Thomas Moffett. Tommy’s love extended deeply to his grandchildren: Amari, Capri, Perrish, Jr. Rico, Brandon, Sariah, Paris (Monte) and Machiah; great-grandchildren: Amorah, Naveyah, and Avalyn, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings: two brothers, Charles Perry (Lula) and Larry Watson (Cindy); and two sisters, Jeanelle Crawford and Toyia Scrutchings. Tommy also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence and who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bessie Irene Perry and Eugene Watson; and his two sisters, Brenda Perry and Anna Laura, who welcomed him home into eternal rest. TP 100 will be missed but NEVER be forgotten.
