Mrs. Bobbie J Rawls

June 27, 1938 - May 10, 2022

Bobbie J Gillespie was born on June 27, 1938 in Richton, Mississippi to the Union of Luther Gillespie and Jessie Mae Evans. She was called home on May 10, 2022. After Graduating Valedictorian of Bay Springs High School in 1955 she travelled to New York for work. She later returned to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she met and married Billy James Rawls who would be her husband for 60 years. The couple eventually moved to Chicago. Because her mother was heavily involved in the Church, Bobbie accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of St. Sabina Church for many years. Bobbie loved to cook and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Rawls SR., her sisters, Vernell Shears and Lavern Bester, and her brother Billy Gillespie. She was a strong loving mother who leaves to mourn her death her three children, Billy Jr, (Deneen), Vincent Sr.(Amanda), and Deirdre. Her Sister Celia Grant. Grandchildren, Jamil, Vincent Jr, Ashley and Denia. A host of Nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins , a close group of friends and neighbors of 78th and Throop where she resided for over 50 years.
