Kiyé Jaquir Harris-Moorer

Kiyé Jaquir Harris Moorer was born on May 18, 2004, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cashay Harris and Jeffrey Moorer. He was the beloved oldest of six siblings and was deeply loved by his family. At a very young age, Kiyé gave his life to Christ. He was Christened, Baptized and faithfully attended church with his great- grandmother, where he learned God’s Word and built the foundation of his faith. Kiyé began his education at Schmidt Elementary School before attending Kwame Nkrumah Academy, where he earned his eighth-grade diploma. He continued his academic journey at Butler College Prep, where he challenged himself by taking honors classes. Dedicated to his education, Kiyé graduated with his high school diploma in 2022. Following high school, Kiyé attended Southern Illinois University, where he studied Business Administration and earned college credits while developing a strong sense of independence living on campus. Kiyé believed in working hard and earning his own way while preparing for his future. Throughout the years, he held several jobs and was employed at the Amazon Fulfillment Center during his time of transition. His strong work ethic and determination reflected the values he carried throughout his life. Kiyé had a passion for basketball and enjoyed playing whenever he had the opportunity to, whether on a team or simply for fun. He also loved gaming and spent countless hours playing online with his cousins and friends, creating memories that they will always cherish. Kiyé was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Eressie Grandberry; his great-grandfather, Eddie Lee Grandberry; great-grandfather Willie Torrance Sr. and his grandfather, Deacon Larry Moorer. Kiyé leaves to cherish his precious memory of his loving mother, Cashay Harris; his father, Jeffrey Moorer; his sisters, Jazell Moorer, Journee Moorer, Jordyn Moorer, and Cassius Smith; his brother Noah Kendall; his great-great- grandmother, Linda Harris; his grandmothers, Linda Harris, Cassandra Moorer, and Khadijah Grandberry; his grandfather, Darrell Harris; and his beloved cousin, London Gurley, who grew alongside him from infancy into manhood. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish the love, laughter, and memories he shared with them. Kiyé’s kind heart, unwavering determination, and deep love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though his time with us was far too brief, his life touched many, and his memory will continue to be a source of love, strength, and inspiration for generations to come
